Got to love shop workin' and proform huh?

Specialized doesn't have as good a rep as it should in my area. The shop that carries them does not do nearly enough to promote their real bikes IMHO.

Newfoundland if a funny place. The higher travel enduro bikes are perfect for around here and the only ones around are ones people are dying to get off their hands for something different.

Matter of opinion I suppose. I worked for a Specialized vendor and I've ridden their bikes...along with dozens of others. I prefer the Rune...which is why I own one, over an Enduro!

Ahhhhh, sorry. S-Works Enduro actually has (pretty much) the same leverage curve as my Rune. I would imagine they pedal at much the same efficiency. Although, the SX is not as stiff as the Rune, so I wouldn't expect the S-Works to be either.

Yes, for sure on a long Californian AM ride your rig will SURELY punish mine, but I sincerely believe with Newfoundland AM in mind you would not hold much advantage with your build (there are no sustained climbs here, just short steep and harsh tech), and Newfoundland DH would just punish your rig.

I call this bike the "Ultimate Do It All Bike" because I can confidently ride everything, including our DH runs, without worry (once I change my rims mind you!), for multiple seasons. I know this because I've ridden most of the components on this build before, without issue. And on top of that, the bike weights in close on 33 lbs.

Moral of the story is Californian AM Bike is not a Newfoundland Do it All bike I suppose.

I would stack the Rune frame against the the SX or S-Works however, in any situation, to perform to the same level or better.

mine may be more DH because it's got more travel up front, but I'll wager it's also got a lower bar height making it better for everything else as well. 2cm more travel, lower front end. A little slacker too....and stiffer.

It IS the ultimate do it all rig. I've riddin the SX numerous times, and I owned a Nomad. The Rune is a cut above! Pedals better, decends better.

However, Your bikes is nice, very nice indeed.

I have mine built up at 38 lbs (maybe slightly less now), full on race bike. And if the fact that there is 1.5 lbs of metal of 38 lbs of bike, 6" higher on this bike than a mongoose, or your own bike and that's going to make you tip, then I think you probably ride like a wuss and should go jump in a fire and spare the rest of us the lame comments you meat heads!

Titanium is about 40 times as expensive as steel if you are in the metal market - that's why.

You bagged the uppers? Meaning you never took the fork appart before you painted?

Meaning you probably never stripped the paint underneath? Or gave the paint a good bake?

No different than a self spray bomb. Just looks neater than the average joe job.

Take them appart, strip them down, use the right primers and paint them right.

Looks likw the painter has a good hand, but you want to make sure you go through all the steps, else the paint will not last.

ACTUALLY, even automotive paint is not just enough. To do a good job, you need to strip the old paint, and if you are using wet paint (automotive paint), you need to use an epoxy primer (usually a 2 part mix) so the paint bonds to the aluminum. Epoxy primer is messy, and you need a proper paint gun to use it. Without it, the paint will damage very very easily. Then apply the automotive paint, and to do this well you have to be experienced.

Most people will no do a good job of this.

if done well, it will not be as good as a factory powder coat job 99% of the time, which requires a special media blasting to lightly pit your frame, a powder coat paint (which you can't buy in a normal automotive or even paint shop) and an industrial oven to bake it onto your frame.

you bet.
figured i would suggest the shock upgrade. seems a lot of positive comments about it out there. and a cheap way to make a good bike great, instead of upgrading all together.

huh...

well, if you don't sell it, send the shock away. i would assume thats the main reason for the sale? limited shock options?

send the shock to avy and have it converted to high-end avy inners. upgrade a couple of parts and keep the bike. those are nice bikes, regardless of what people around here will tell you.

upgrade a couple of parts and bingo bango it will be like a new rig.

i have to ask, what's up with the tape on the brakes?

Fantastic! Although I have to admit, I haven't gotten the chance to ride this one much as it's winter. I have another for my trail bike and it's freaking amazing.

you must have skipped my discription! i was driving a 98 grand am, and it has been breaking down latley. my mechanic said to stop putting money into it, so now i have to get a new car. i am leasing a new toyota yaris, it should be in this week, wed or thur. insurance for one year is more than the bike costs, comming in at $3000! highway robbery if you ask me. then i have car payments on top of that. and although i am in a good paying job at the moment, i don't have much security, so i need the money in the bank. and thats it. it's a heart brake knowing i will sell one of my two bikes to cover inurance, something i'll never see and probably never use. stinks doesn't it?
